Defensive Driving: Additional Class Dates

Featured Class: Forklift
FORK: Forklift Training for Operators
Description: This course is designed to introduce the student to the design, characteristics, and safe operating practices of the 6 classes of powered industrial trucks known as forklifts. The course meets the general requirements of California’s standards found in Title 8, General Industry Safety Orders, Sections 3664 & 3668. Included is hands-on operation of a forklift and the student must demonstrate proficiency in application of the principles of operation learned in the classroom.
Student Fee: $25
Course Length: 8 hours

Elizabeth Magana passes state court reporting exam
Congratulations to our very own Elizabeth Magana for becoming the first Taft College at WESTEC court reporting student to successfully pass the licensing examination requirements for the State of California. Elizabeth came to our program as a transfer student from Downey Adult School of Court Reporting and was eventually successful in completing the rigorous state academic and dictation requirements allowing her to sit for the state test. She will be receiving her Certified Shorthand Reporter license in the near future.

Suzanne Boatman earns CSR license
All of us at WESTEC Court Reporting would like to say congratulations Suzanne Boatman, a graduate of the BC Court Reporting program, who recently received her CSR license. She has been a friend to our program here at WESTEC since its inception. She unselfishly volunteers her services for special projects, tutoring, and is serving as a mentor for several students. She has become an essential resource for the Computerized Aided Transcription program at our school. Way to go, Suzanne!
In addition to receiving her CSR license, Suzanne recently announced her engagement with her wedding planned for the Fall.
